I am against the adulteration of good spirits. And Macallan, while over priced and over marketed, does fall into that category. If you insist on mixing something other than a splash of water into your whisk(e)y, I would suggest using Cutty Sark. It has four benefits for your beverage of choice related in increasing order from practicality to asianness: 1) it is a speyside blend aged in american oak so it will have a flavor profile similar to the Mac, 2) it is cheap, 3) It is named for a ship which was an example of a "tea clipper," 4) It is a favourite of Murakami.
